Vision
"To sustainably improve labour standards in global supply chains, with a particular focus on the Indian subcontient".
Mission statement
BTE seeks to work in partnership with companies, governments, workers and NGOs to develop appropriate responses to the ethical challenges in global supply chains, but especially in India. Our approach is one of engagement, consultation and encouragement to drive realistic improvements. We work at all levels in the supply chain to build systems and tools to deliver true and sustainable improvements in labour standards
Approach
Our work is based on the belief that:
- The benefits of trade should be spread through-out the supply chain
- People have the right to work in a safe and hygienic environment
- We should be aware of our use of natural resources and minimise our impact
We work at all levels of the supply chain from global to local, in numerous countries and with diverse organisations to address ethical concerns. We will be led by the people most effected and engage with them to drive relevant improvementsOur commercial back grounds have helped us to develop a blend of business based solutions that address the issues business has in a way that promotes and embeds appropriate responses to the challenges of global purchasing. We believe the only way to succeed in improving labour standards in supply chains is to work in partnership with all stakeholders to deliver gradual improvements through shared goals.
