In response to mounting ethical concerns in the quarried & natural stone industry, BTE facilitated the inauguration of the UK Quarry Working group.

The group consists of:

  • Key UK Retailers
  • Construction Companies
  • Importers of Quarried Stone
  • Other Interested Stakeholders

The group objective is to:

  • Develop a set of labour and environmental standards that companies would expect to find in their global supply chain
  • Standards to be adopted and in time spread across the whole UK and Europe
  • Scope originally included India, but now includes any quarry site anywhere in the world (including: China, Brazil and UK).
