Girish joined BTE in October 2005, to establish and run the BTE India office. He is a Graduate in Commerce and has Masters Degree in Social work with Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations with Human Resource Development. He has formally trained in various international compliance codes such as AA 1000; SA 8000; ISO 14001. In the capacity of Social Auditor he has a good understanding of: ETI Base Code (UK); FWF Codes (Netherlands); FLA (USA); GRI (USA); FLO (Europe); IFAT (Europe). He is fluent in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Konkani with working knowledge of three more Indian languages.
For more than fourteen years he has been working in the areas of Corporate Philanthropy, Corporate Social Responsibility and Behavioural Skills Training in the Development Sector. Before joining BTE India, Girish worked for IRFT (International Resources for Fair Trade) as the head of the Ethical Business Programme. In the last seven years he was actively involved in the international Fair Trade Movement. He was nominated on "Fair Trade - Standards and Monitoring" Sub Committee of IFAT (The International Fair Trade Association) , as well as on Advocacy Committee of AFTF (Asian Fair Trade Forum).
